Visitor and safety procedures

Thank you for your continued understanding and support as we do our best to protect all of those we care for from COVID-19. We have a number of visitor and safety procedures and measures in place in our homes to keep our residents, team, and visitors safe. For visitors this includes:

Active Screening

This is applied to every person who enters our care home, including every team member on every shift, and includes:

  • Temperature check (must be 37.5 degrees Celsius or below)
  • Evidence of a current flu vaccination (required by the Commonwealth Department of Health)
  • Key questions about:
    • recent travel
    • exposure to anyone diagnosed with COVID-19
    • exposure to locations identified by state health authorities as at risk
  • Checking for respiratory symptoms
  • A requirement to sign the visitor log (for non-team members)
  • Hand sanitisation on entering and reminders to do so regularly while in the care home
  • Reminders regarding the importance of spatial distancing

If one or more of these requirements cannot be met, entry is not allowed.

Visitor Arrangements

Our visitor arrangements are designed to keep our residents safe and are consistent with the Australian Health Protection Principal Committee, the Industry Code for Visiting Aged Care Homes during COVID-19, and the relevant State and Commonwealth advice for visitors to residential aged care. Please be advised the advice of the state health authorities is updated as the situation evolves and our visitor arrangements are adjusted in accordance with those changes. The Commonwealth and State information including local hotspots is available here. The Code is available here.

Please see the resources below to help keep COVID-19 out of our homes.

Stop the spread of flu

Flu Vaccine

Anyone who enters a residential aged care home in Australia is required to have evidence of a current flu vaccination (or evidence of a medical exemption in which case wearing of PPE is required).

Influenza is a contagious disease of the respiratory tract and can be life-threatening for vulnerable people. With COVID-19 present in Australia it is more important than ever to ensure you are protected from respiratory illness.
