Hospitality in Aged Care

We are committed to providing exceptional hospitality service standards in our care communities. Our hospitality team comprises of catering and housekeeping roles ranging from Head Chefs to support roles in the kitchen, cleaning, and laundry departments.
We have qualified Chefs in all our care communities with all meals prepared fresh and menus developed in house based on our residents’ preferences and choice.

Our lifestyle team assists with enabling a meaningful life for every resident in our care communities, making lifestyle an integral part of our model of care. Meaningful lifestyle activities include activities that help retain independence, leisure activities, purposeful interactions, and human connections.  Importantly, lifestyle programs are built on an individual resident’s personal goals, needs, and preferences.

Commonly asked questions about Opal

  • Yes, you are required to have a current police check to work in aged care. If you do not hold a valid check Opal can organise this for you as part of the recruitment process.

    We also conduct two (2) reference checks and a medical check which may include pre-employment drug testing.

     

  • We offer structured career pathways across all areas of care, hospitality and lifestyle. You can progress your aged care career at Opal through a number of pathways supported by our professional development and training programs.

  • Yes, we have a number of training programs in place to support your career pathway, including:

    • Induction and on the job training
    • Online learning
    • Opal Scholarships Program - where Opal supports team members financially towards further studies
    • Traineeships
    • Graduate Registered Nurse Program
    • Internal leadership programs for new, emerging and existing leaders
    • Australian College of Nursing membership discounts

     

  • Yes, we offer sponsorship for Registered Nurses only. This usually occurs in regional areas around Australia.
