Learn about us and why we are trusted as an aged care provider by so many Australian’s.
Over six years ago, Domain and Principal Aged Care businesses merged to become Domain Principal Group. On 4 June 2014, the business changed its name to Opal Aged Care. The change of name came about not due to ownership or management changes, but because we simply feel that it is time for one identity that better reflects our determination to be industry leaders who are different from other aged care providers.
We believe that our new identity reinforces our focus on communicating honestly and openly with the community, residents and their families about some of the unspoken emotions of aged care, such as fear and guilt and over time begin to change the perception of residential aged care in the community.
How will we be different?
To be different we need to approach many things we do with fresh thinking. Whilst the clinical care outcomes of our residents will always be a primary focus, we have begun the process of making changes to the way we deliver lifestyle and hospitality programs for our residents by learning from other service industries and introducing new people to our Company. We have also signed a national alliance with Alzheimer’s Australia to train every single one of our employees on the fundamentals of good dementia care.
Of course none of this is possible without our dedicated staff and we will only achieve our goals by supporting, rewarding and investing in our people. We continue to allocate significant resources to develop and deliver new training programs to all our staff, ensuring we attract and retain the best staff in the industry.
We feel our new identity better reflects who we are and what we are aiming to achieve, communicates our position as a specialist aged care provider and delivers on our commitment to ensure our residents get the most out of life.
Our mission is to deliver the highest quality care and services to our residents and their families at an important time in their lives.
- Respect: we are honest and transparent. We respect our residents and their families. We always show respect for each other.
- Compassion: we strive to understand the needs and feelings of our residents, families and colleagues. We act with kindness in everything we do.
- Accountability: we take individual responsibility for our actions, commitments and wellbeing. We work willingly as a team to ensure the highest quality of care is provided to our residents and families.
